RECORDING ARTS AND SHOW PRODUCTION PROGRAM

Welcome to Recording Arts & Show Production Program here at C Media Institute and congratulations on taking your first step towards an exciting career in the Recording Arts industry. Our career-specific training begins with courses in audio and music production and communate with courses on audio post, advanced audio, and show production. Students are focused on their career path from day one in a hands-on learning environment that is centered on gaining entry-level employment upon graduation.

During the course of the program, students will complete many industries related projects and develop a portfolio of these projects to showcase to potential employers.

MUSIC PRODUCTION:

During the first courses in the program, students learn the fundamentals of audio and music theory. They will explore the science of sound, digital audio, midi programming, and music production. Students will quickly move into one of the primary tools of the audio industry the DAW or digital audio workstation.

Cubase, Ableton, studio one pro, and FL Studio are used throughout the program and in the industry so students get a firm grasp on these DAWs from the first course.

Through many hands-on exercises and projects, students will develop an understanding of digital audio editing, routing, effects processing, mixing, audio production, beats making, and critical listening skills.

RECORDING ARTS:

Students will be introduced to industry standards studio equipment and techniques, including analog consoles, patch-base, signal flow, Audio processors, and audio recordings. 

During this course, students will work on several projects including a podcast, radio commercial, and recording sessions with a solo artist and full band. This course teaches students to learn as a team and deliver a final product to real-world clients

 

SOUND FOR VISUAL MEDIA:

Sound for video games, Television, and the internet, is one of the most exciting and encompassing products of the audio industry.

Students will learn how to operate a control surface and to record dialogue or ADR along with the fundamentals of folly arts, sound design, and surround sound mixing. They will also be exposed to location sound using field audio kits to get real-world sounds for their projects. Students will apply these techniques to their class projects, which involve the audio post-production from a scene of a film, commercial, radio, or television sport.

 

AUDIO MIXING & MASTERING:

Mixing and mastering are the final stages of any musical production before the master is sent for commercial release, and it is a critical skill in audio production. Students will learn to mix on Cubase, studio one, and FL Studio using advanced editing techniques, sequencing, and vocal tuning. They will then explore mastering using EQ, compression, limiting, and other techniques with studio one. By the end of this course, students will have an understanding of how to take a song from the beginning to the final stages of production.

 

SHOW PRODUCTION:

Live sound is one of the largest and most exciting aspects of the entertainment industry. There are more careers in live sound and show production than in any other area of the audio industry. Students will learn different live sound practices such as live mixing, audio-visual production, theater, installations, and maintenance. They will learn to create and monitor in front of classmates and then take this experience to work on several live events on and off campus, from concerts to cooperate events, reality and comedy shows.

 

CAREER DEVELOPMENT:

It is important that students take courses in career development to learn the tools needed to gain entry-level employment in this competitive industry.

They will focus on the design of their own portfolio that will include a website, resume, and a business card, and will build an online presence using Bolodey, connectyu, linkedin, Facebook, and other outlets. This portfolio will also include all of the projects completed during the program.

 

STUDENT INTERNSHIP:

Students are required to complete an industry internship in order to graduate. This internship is at least 3 months in length and is conducted in many fields of recording arts and show production. An internship allows students the opportunity to further develop real-world skills and gain industry experience in work environments while networking with real employers, which could lead to entry-level employment upon graduation.
